Letters found by chance belonging to Salthouse

I received this letter and its contents out of the blue!

It was very good of Kay Whittaker, with no connections to Salthouse herself, to bother to check up on Salthouse Hall and the Hawley's one-time ownership of it! See a bit about it.

As Kay says - the letters don't seem to hold any special information, but they show the date clearly and the description of the 'convoy' at the top of Bard Hill is interesting and the wrong-direction walk to Holt in the rain is delightful!

If anyone thinks they may be related to any of the 'Aunties' and Uncles mentioned, let me know!

There were two letters in the envelope

One written from The Hall and the other from Myng's Terrace

There are 6 pages to both letters but mostly they are Christian names of endless Aunties etc.

I have put a selection because the account of the 'shopping bus to Holt' and the attempt to walk there, are quite historic! Also the mention of Gladys High - a well remembered Salthouse person is of interest.
